Cutscenes: Good idea in thought, bad in implementation
If you have more than 2 characters, you know how it feels when you see this:
7 out of 8 party members wish to skip the cinematic.
And it's one of those 5 minute long ones. The last guy REALLY wants to see what happens to Togo, like he's been reading every quest and following the storyline 100%.
Please, if we want to skip it, LET US SKIP IT. Don't give us "you can't skip it unless EVERYONE wants to" kind of garbage.
The people who skip it, are free to run around in the city. They can't zone anywhere (except mapping) which will keep them from porting players to another zone while they're still watching.
This really isn't much to ask, but now that i'm on my 8th character, i'm just a little more than sick and tired of watching Nahpui Quarters cinematic.

Then stop doing Naphui with Pug groups and take npc's. If you have 8 charecters you should be skilled enough to 5 man that entire mission flawlessly and raid all chests inside. I completed all of factions and tyria with hench teams and it is absolutely possible.
However, if your going to team up with people to help them complete a mission. You cant expect them not to whatch cinimatics if they havnt seen them yet. I think everyone should whatch them atleast once. What is the point of playing a game with an elaborate storyline if you dont even care abou it?
I think that suggestion is totally inconsiderate of others and falls in the category of the "go, go go" rushers in teams that get everyone killed.

Sometimes you need groups of real people. Specifically when going for Master's, or a few bonuses in Tyria (the one where you can't hit the Jungle Guardians, or the bonus is ruined especially).
Also, forcing everyone who wants to skip the cinematic to watch it is inconsiderate as well.

I was in a human team for the Tahnnakai Temple mission, and we did it fine without any leavers. When we got to the end cutscene, we got the usual message that 1 or 2 folk haven't skipped, but it said we had 7 party members rather than the 8 we finished it with. I pmed the person who left and she said she couldn't be bothered watchin it, especially when two people haven't skipped. Then I asked how she got out of watchin it and she said all she did was close GW durin the cutescene, because it allows you to skip it. Then when you log back in you're at the town you end up at after the mission. Is this really what happens? Can anyone cornfirm it? It seems to be quite a risky test to carry out, imagine takin an hour and a half to finish a mission with henchies then tryin this out only to find you were still at the place you started...

I agree it isnt nice for some 1 not to skip such long cinematics in large groups
But remember that game story line should be watched,as part of the game, some people might enjoy it,some might not
Make shure you tell person to skip cinematics before it starts, and explain how you feel about it.Maybe that would do.

People seem to be off the ball on this one. The OP isn't focing players not to watch the scenes, but with respect for the people who wish to skip the scenes, to give them the ability to roam around the next town with the restriction of not being able to map out.
This idea would only be possible towards cut-scenes that are shown at the end of the particular mission, but this is a good improvement that can be done that doesn't infringe on the requests of those who actually want to watch it.
As for the other cut-scenes (beginning and mid scenes), there is nothing that you would be allowed to do. If you start the mission, or if you continue the mission early by skipping the scene, then you'll have to wait for everyone to finish watching it so that you can progress through anyway.
/signed for end-scene improvements

The point is not that the poster wants them not to watch it... rather that after 7 or 8 chars... he doesn't want to watch epic cut scenes again...
I was actually discussing this topic with some of my guildies the other day.. Just a way for you to be able to exit the cutscenes while leaving others to watch them. There'd have to be restrictions on zoning like you said but really... once you've seen a cutscene once... well yeah... it's not that exciting anymore.

If you disconnect during an ending cutscene you end up in the town you started in, but you still complete mission, meaning you have to do it again to unlock the next town. My girlfriend got disconnected in the cutscene after Sanctum Cay, and when she connected again the mission was complete but she couldn't get to Amnoon without doing mission again. When I revisit a mission and someone doesn't skip the ending cutscene I always log out and in again since I already have access to the next town.
And to the OP, no I don't think it's a good idea to let the majority skip, the game should favour the ones who haven't done it before. If you could 'skip' into the game area like you suggest the players would see who didn't skip and flame that person and/or leave.
If you're really desperate for master reward then get a PUG and expect to watch the cutscenes, if not use the henchies.
-edited due to what Jedimagician wrote-
The mission completion might have been updated, it happened a long time ago.

We really don't need another one of these threads. Our fancy-smancy new and improved search feature would have revealed threads like this one which clearly have the same suggestion. In fact, it's even in our Index of Ideas.
